Relationship Courses
We offer two relationship courses that are not therapy but, rather, a more informal way to learn about the science of relationships across different stages of the life cycle. Our two main science-based offerings include Bringing Baby Home & Premarital Classes based on the PREPARE-ENRICH program. The courses take place in our conference room and are limited to just three couples each. No personal disclosures to the group are required and the structure of the courses include lecture, powerpoint, and exercises that are done in private. These courses are a cost-effective way to enhance your relationship without having to go through couples therapy.

Bringing Baby Home

Even the strongest relationships are strained during the transition to parenthood. Lack of sleep, never-ending housework and new fiscal concerns can lead to profound stress and a decline in marital satisfaction – all of which affect baby’s care. Not surprisingly, 67% of new parents experience conflict, disappointment and hurt feelings.
Our research-based Bringing Baby Home workshops prepare couples for life with baby and helps them be the best parenting team possible. In a relaxed and supportive environment, parents learn to strengthen their relationship and foster baby’s development during this challenging time. They build on what Dr. Gottman and colleagues found is the best predictor of marital adjustment after baby arrives: the quality of friendship in the marriage.
As a result of this Workshop, you and your partner will learn to:
- Strengthen your relationship
- Effectively manage stress and conflict
- Recognize and respond to postpartum mood anxiety and adjustment issues and postpartum depression
- Meet the emotional and psychological needs of a child
- Keep you both actively involved in parenting
You’ll also receive the following supportive materials:
One Couple’s Workbook: Bringing Baby Home Couple’s Workbook, 250 pages. Includes insightful research, key parenting tips, guides and information, resources and interactive exercises.
Six Card Decks: These fun, interactive cards are used in the Bringing Baby Home Workshop with parents as interactive exercises. Titles include: Love Map Cards, Love Map Cards For Couples with Kids, Open-Ended Questions Cards, Father’s Cards, Expressing Needs Cards, Softened Start-up Cards.
PREPARE/ENRICH Premarital Course
Date & Time: Separate courses are offered on Thursdays & Fridays 6-8PM (you would choose which day works best for you) for 4 consecutive weeks. New groups start every month.

With marriage, we commit to deepening our relationships and building loving partnerships with the potential to last a lifetime. This process can be both beautiful and challenging. Through our Premarital Courses, we give you the tools you need to create a solid foundation for your relationship and marriage.
Using the well-researched PREPARE/ENRICH assessment, we’ll help you identify your strengths and work through areas of potential difficulties before they become damaging. Some of the areas we’ll cover include:
- communication
- sexual intimacy
- emotional intimacy
- finances
- in-laws and family
- personality differences and similarities
- religion and spirituality (when applicable)
You’ll complete the service with new skills to carry your loving commitment forward and learn about the 40 years of research into what makes relationships succeed.
