Rachel Crisler, BS/BA – Intake Coordinator
I grew up in a small town in Illinois about two hours from Chicago. At the age of five, my family moved to Boise, Idaho. In 2011, after 12 years in Boise, my family made another big move to Charlotte, North Carolina. I still consider myself a Chicagoan though — go Bears!).
I started college at Central Piedmont Community College that fall in general education courses in the hopes of becoming a CNA. I received my CNA after passing the exam, and worked through a few clinical internships.
After a short while I realized that this is not the path I wanted to take after all and began looking into other related career options. This led me to veterinary assisting. I took a break from school and began working first as a receptionist and then as a veterinary assistant at a local clinic in Charlotte. I loved working with pets and their owners. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships that I formed with the families in both the happiest times and during their most difficult moments. I found this connection extremely rewarding. This realization urged me to go back to school to pursue social work. And in 2022 I graduated with my Bachelors of Psychology and a Bachelors of History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
I am now in the Masters of Social Work program at my alma mater, and it is definitely where I need to be. I plan on applying for a counseling license following graduation. I look forward to working with the wonderful clients here at Connect Couples Therapy.
When I am not working or in class, I love to read historical fiction, spend time with friends and family, and travel. I also have a sweet little chihuahua named Maya, and two black cats named Pascal and Freyja.
